- Official work is very busy these days, so we are moving at a slow pace with our site development here, but not quite behind the time line even so.
- The progress bar is moving for the digital and P.O.D journal for the local culture and arts group, targeted for completion by the 19th and releasing it at anytime from there to the forthcoming week.
- My private studies need attention too, so hopefully we can get the help of another collaborator on the visual side to quicken things up (I'm sloppy in that area as you know ;] )

November marks a full year and a half since we started building the Online Directory of Bicol Culture and Arts which featured definitive online resource links to Bicolano Blogs, Bicolano Writers Online, and Bikolano Artists Online.
Encounters and convergences have brought in more resource links (thanks to everyone who tag me to their events). The first set of links we have gathered are for the literary writers and the local artists. This year brought in for us, links of Bicolano bloggers across the globe.
Over the past three months, our blogging stints were a bit limited. This is because we have been lurking on the web in the background, testing platforms, observing the trends in digital publishing, and also making private consultations with collaborators. The Midnight Writer recognizes the challenges and the many issues that affect the searchability and marketability of artistic creations and positions itself at the forefront of a sustainable creative economy.
As we move forward, we work to develop a more viable social media service on repolles.com which is to serve as an avenue both for the promotion of our cultural advocacy and gearing towards even more curious experiments aimed at strengthening and empowering the Bikolano artists in the various fields. We hope to fill the void that limits the reach of our efforts to promote and propagate works of artistic creation, linguistic empowerment, cultural diversity, and definitions of our cultural identity.
The project, which takes the namesake of The Midnight Circle, will serve as a convergence point for the both the traditional and digital media artists. It will be a member-powered community site with a collaborative workspace, a gallery of artworks, and a place for selling works. The Directory pages will feature extended profiles that allow you to showcase your professional competitiveness as an artist, or simply express your support to the artist community as a culture and arts enthusiast/lover. It also will allow you to link up to three of your websites and automatically feed your Activity page with updates each time you create a new post on your blog. Membership will be free but it will require moderator approval to keep splogs and spams away. Janrain login technology is being considered aside from developing a custom API for Facebook and Twitter. Additional features may be added in the future as our resources and skills allow us.
The Midnight Circle will also offer digital publishing and promotions of Bikolano books and literary and art folios. As an initial offering, we have relaunched The Midnight Journal as a free multilingual and multidiscipline blogzine that will serve as the community's official journal, and on the third week of November, we will launch Sawangan, the subculture magazine of Albayanong Parasurat in digital (free preview) and print format (complete edition, available by subscription).
This week onto the next, we will explore the various site elements, tools, and fine-tune the system developed and drafted based on the study. Inputs and relevant experiences from The Midnight Writer's immediate social circles such as the Albayanong Parasurat, Bicolano Bloggers Republic, and Curious Experiments are the main sources of inspiration and insights for this project, which is now on its second phase of development.
Beta testing is hoped to be done by December and the target date of launch is on the 5th of January in 2012.
